MMW#25: Anything Mixed Media Goes with a Twist (Moodboard)

Welcome back to our challenge blog! We start our May challenge with a fun moodboard prepared by Irena and although this twist of ours is totally optional, it would be great to see you being creative and interpret it in one way or another.

Before we get to the fabulous inspiration for this challenge, I'd like to thank to those who entered the last challenge. All of your creations are wonderful!

Our Moodboard:

Prize: £15 voucher from Wild Orchid Crafts

I made a mix media tag. I used a butterfly, jeans, blue and brown colors from the mood board.
I finally founded an application for my son's old jeans))))

I decided to decorate an album cover and make a coordinated card.
I love playing with fabrics and I am here to show you how I have used some of them in this project. I was inspire by the all colors and images from the Moodboard.
I have been testing a range of different fabrics including gauze, lace, polyester organza, jeans and linien fabrics. I have used texture pastes plus stencils, and a few other bits and pieces to decorate this album cover.

Are you ready for some fun in the sun? I know I am, so I was happy to see the beautiful mood board for the May challenge. Sand and surf, sunshine and denim, this mood board will inspire you slip into your summer cutoffs and grab a tube of Cerulean Blue!
My memories of the ocean come to me in waves of sound, so I decided to create a piece called "Beach Music' using a palette of blues and tans.

I created an eclectic greeting card with mixed media background. It is inspired by the images of jeans with butterfly and the jute roll. The text chipboard "Palju õnne" means "Congratulations" in Estonian and I tried to color it in accordance to the beautiful shades of blue from our spiritful May moodboard.

This mood-board is so inspiring! So many pieces that I really love! So I decided to create a canvas using all those elements. On my canvas you'll find denim pocket, cord, twigs and some kind of butterfly :)

Here is my project to match with beautiful sea theme -" Life is wonderful at beach " !! I love the serenity , sunshine , sand and salty water !! Just perfect for spending vacation !! Can't wait for that ..

I used the blue and brown colours from the mood board. This is my favourite colour combination therefore it wasn't hard to create a layout for our May challenge. The butterfly and the natural look and feel was so inspiring. I used one of my brand new paper sets that fitted perfectly to the theme.
I hope you like the romantic result

WOW! Amazing as always, Ladies! I don't know about you, but I am totally feeling inspired to rip up those jeans and have a go myself! I hope you have a go at this month's challenge. We shall look forward to seeing your fabulous designs. Plenty of time to enter too so enjoy your creative time and we'll be back soon to announce the winners of the last challenge!

Stay creative!

Video Tutorial by Maria Lillepruun

Hi everyone!

I hope you are enjoying the Easter holiday!

Maria has a special treat for you today. She kindly prepared a wonderful step-by-step tutorial of her recent project.

For our April challenge I created a light mixed media layout of an unusual shape and with watercolour twist :) It is dedicated to my little daughter Karolina, who is mainly happy and bubbly, but sometimes does turn into a little drama queen. So I made a layout using colours that would reflect her personality.

A few photos first:

Here's the video for you to enjoy!

Thank you, Maria for the fantastic tutorial. Your daughter is a beauty!

I hope you enjoyed today's treat and we're looking forward to seeing your entries this month. You can link up HERE.

All the best and Happy Easter! x

So, if this is what you're after, you're in a right place right now, because we have a new challenge and heaps of amazing inspiration for you.

The team really excelled this time round and created the most beautiful pieces of art. I don't even know where to start. I, personally, won't be able to join in this time round which is a real shame as I was really looking forward to creating for this challenge, but one must just take her losses sometimes. Fear not though, there is so much we have to share with you today!

The new challenge is as always Anything Mixed Media Goes... BUT... we have a twist for you! Excited? :) We'd love to see you using WATERCOLOURS in your project. Now, this is totally optional, but would be great if you did.

The teamies created a plethora of mixed media artworks with watercolours and they are amazing! Here they are...

Hi My Crafty Friends,

I would like to show you my latest project. I haven't prepared any art journal pages long time ago. It was a really great feeling to come back to this wonderful crafting activity.

I imagined a vivid vintage creation before I started the process so I decided to use turquoise and pink colours with vintage paper patterns.

I made a video tutorial for you to follow the creative process:

MMW#23: Anything Mixed Media Goes - with optional twist

Hello everyone!

I hope you enjoyed the last challenge and are looking forward to the next one! Last time it was easy for you as you could enter any mixed media project. There are so many amazing entries we will need to take a few days to decide on our winner and our Fab 3. I will be back next week to reveal the lucky winners.

The brand new team are exited to be bringing you their very first inspiration this month and you are in for a real treat! This month, you can once again enter anything you like, but we also have a Mood Board as an optional twist. We would really like to see how you would interpret it.

The wonderful makes from my lovely DT ladies are below so enjoy!

On the cover of my notebook I wanted to portray the horse in the frosty morning forest. Crystal morning, frosty air. Soon the sun comes out and the frost a starts to melt.

Video here

I really enjoy creating abstract mixed media art. I had fun with PaperArtsy Grunge paste, Prima Heavy Gesso, Lindy's sprays, Decoart Acrylic spray, some  inks and more...

Hi Mixed Media World's friends! Irena here. This is my first inspirational post for Mixed Media World.
I decided to create a 20x60 canvas "A promise for Spring". I found places for all pieces of the Mood board while having lots of fun.

Video here

March is a fickle month: either more Winter or, hopefully, Spring is about to appear. My altered bottle, Ice Melt, celebrates the coming of Spring. I incorporated the theme and colors in the moodboard - melting ice, renewal, blue sky and sunlight. So, in the spirit of renewal, an orange Halloween glass bottle is reborn via gesso, crackle paste, modeling paste, spray mists, old lace, handmade flowers and embellishments!

I looove our March moodboard! Its colour scheme resembles a lot the colours of early Spring behind my window. I created two tags inspired by several elements from our moodboard - the colour scheme, the red berries and even the horse :)

I think on my notebook is still a winter. You can find there remnants of ice and frozen earth. But also a few flowers and a little fairy sitting and waiting patiently for spring.
I chose for my cover a piece of cotton fabric in blue-gray color and I started with chipboard die cuts, skeleton leafs and crackle paste to create a texture. Next I added all embellishments and covered them with a white gesso. After all the layers have dried, I painted everything with mists and Opal Magic acrylic paints.

Live Love Laugh : Winter canvas
I have created a winter canvas for March challenge . "If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant" so enjoy this winter in this moment , enjoy this moment to it fullest !!
I have used lots of Lindy's Spray Mist ,Snowflake paste, art stones and Dusty Attic chipboard !!

I prepared a mixed media canvas for the mood board of March. I rarely use red colour, this is my very first scrapbook creation with this colour.
The inspiration board is full of winter style pictures, but I tried to make something without referencing any of the seasons. It is all about white, black and red.

Wow! I mean,... wow! I don't know about you, but I'm totally in love with ALL of these and the DT ladies totally smashed it! I am now very excited to see what you will come up with and how you will interpret the mood board.

Good luck with you entry! You could win 3 gorgeous images from the Old Vintage Shop on Etsy! They are great for collages and all sorts of mixed media fun so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Have fun with the challenge and stay creating! Big crafty hugs..
